TRAINING & STIMULATION
TRAINING SYSTEMS
WEAPONS SYSTEMS TRAINERS (WST)
Imagine a world where training is not just a routine, but an immersive, dynamic experience. Welcome to the world of Long Wave! We specialize in producing and modifying Weapon Systems Trainers (WST) for the United States Military, transforming the way you train.
Our virtualized training offers numerous advantages over traditional On-the-Job Training (OJT) or hardware-defined training devices. By reutilizing operational software or emulating actual systems, we create a flexible and dynamic training experience that adapts to the needs of each student.
Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron Seven (VQ-7), the E-6B Fleet Replacement Squadron, currently operates two of our state-of-the-art WST devices. Long Wave is proud to have been solely responsible for the fabrication and installation of the second, most recent WST at Tinker AFB. This device doesn’t just simulate - it immerses you in the Communication Central Compartment of the E6-B, along with the Reel Operator, High Power Transmit System Station, and Command Management LAN positions. It also includes four instructor stations.
We’ve leveraged a mix of Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) products with specially designed consoles and an audio system to create a WST that has become the preferred device for Fleet training.
But we don’t stop at hardware. Long Wave also develops the virtual emulations that drive these devices. We’ve updated the WST software multiple times and are currently developing a block virtual communication suite for hosting on the WST devices at Tinker AFB.
Choose Long Wave for a training experience that’s not just effective but also engaging and cutting-edge. Train with Long Wave, train for success!
BATTLESTAFF WST (BST)
Are you looking for a solution that not only meets your needs but also exceeds your expectations? Look no further! Long Wave’s past performance with the E6-B Weapon Systems Training (WST) has proven our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. Recently, Strategic Command (STRATCOM) commissioned Long Wave to develop a Battlestaff WST for training its Airborne Command Post crews. This wasn’t just any device - it was custom designed to accurately represent the space constraints of the aircraft while providing specialized virtual emulations to the crews. This level of customization and attention to detail is what sets us apart.
Long Wave successfully integrated specific virtual system emulations into the Battlestaff WST architecture, meeting and surpassing STRATCOM’s training requirements.
Our track record with STRATCOM’s Battlestaff WST speaks volumes about our dedication to our clients. We are not just about meeting requirements; we are about creating solutions that propel our clients to new heights. Partner with us and let us achieve greatness together!
STIMULATORS
Are you looking to enhance your mission avionics training or stress test your communication suites? Look no further! Long Wave has developed state-of-the-art stimulation systems that actively stimulate mission avionics for these exact purposes.
The Long Wave Stimulation System (LWSS) is a comprehensive solution that provides integrated voice and data communications, an air vehicle emulator, and an instructor or operator station if required. We’ve already provided the United States Navy Center of Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) Detachment Tinker AFB with our technology, enhancing the capabilities of the E-6B Mission Avionics Systems Trainers (MASTs) using our LWSS.
We’ve taken it a step further by modifying a partial maintenance trainer to incorporate interactive multi-task communication system emulation. This enhanced capability enables first-time Mission Specialist trainees to experience the mission environment before they fly a real mission.
But that’s not all! We’ve also provided Naval Air Systems Command’s (NAVAIR) Airborne Strategic Communications Engineering and Test (ASCET) Faculty with a specially designed LWSS for the purpose of stress testing its Systems Integration Lab (SIL). This gives development and integration engineers the ability to test multiple systems for operational effectiveness and suitability, as well as initial Emergency Action Message (EAM) certification required by DISA and the Joint Staff.
Our LWSS has been used to stimulate actual aircraft or operational communication equipment. We’ve even developed and fielded a Mobile LWSS for easy transportation to an aircraft for system testing and evaluation. This scaled-down version of the LWSS combines all functions into one operator-oriented case to maintain its mobile nature. And did we mention? Our LWSS has High Level Architecture (HLA) capabilities in accordance with IEEE 1516-2010.
So why wait? Transform your mission readiness with Long Wave’s Stimulation Systems today!
BASIC SERVICE COMMUNICATION TOOL (BSCT)
Introducing the Basic Service Communication Tool (BSCT) Single Subsystem Framework, a state-of-the-art solution that brings the real-world communications suite of a platform right to your training environment. This innovative system offers a unique opportunity for individual trainees to simulate behaviors, faults, or other inputs, enhancing their learning experience.
What sets our framework apart is its medium fidelity combining limited Power and Control functionality with Cryptographic Devices, striking the perfect balance between realism and resource usage. It’s not just about the quality, but also about the value. Our framework is cost-effective, ensuring you get the best return on your investment. Plus, with our rapid fielding capability, you can have it up and running in no time.
While our system focuses on individual training, we see this as a strength rather than a limitation. It allows for focused, personalized learning experiences that can be tailored to each trainee’s needs.
With the BSCT Single Subsystem Framework, you’re not just buying a product; you’re investing in the future of your training environment. So why wait? Elevate your training program with us today!
SUBSYSTEM EMULATIONS
At Long Wave, we offer two distinct solutions for your communication subsystem needs. The first is an emulation model, meticulously designed to mimic the behavior of the actual system. This option, such as the Message Processing System (MPS) on the E-4B, is often favored by our clients due to its ability to simplify licensing and avoid Intellectual Property (IP) issues.
Alternatively, we can provide the actual software for specific systems like the E-4B MPS, which could be supplied as Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE). This approach may be more suitable in certain scenarios. Take for instance, the Miniature Modified Receiver Terminal (MMRT) a similar system found on the E-4B. These older legacy systems, built on fundamentally different protocols, are typically emulated for operational training.
Our commitment is to provide you with solutions that are not only efficient but also legally sound. We invite you to explore these options and choose what best suits your needs. Let us help you navigate the complexities of system emulation and software re-hosting with ease and professionalism.
Long Wave has created the following emulations that can be deployed with the WST along with our BSCT framework. The WST and BSCT has been deployed with four different communication subsystems listed below:
- Family of Advanced Beyond LoS - Terminal (FAB-T)
- Multi Role – Tactical Common Data Link (MR-TCDL)
- Command Management LAN – (CML)
- Red Switch & Executive Phone Airborne – (TXP-A)
Except for CML, all of these systems are found in different configurations on the E-4B. Examples of other emulations which could be incorporated into the WST or BSCT architecture are:
- MPS
- KGR-72
- MMRT
- Missions Avionics
- Processing Systems (MAPS)
- UHF SATCOM
- VLF Transmit
- Terminal (VTT)
- Radio Control
- Power Control
- Cryptographic Devices
At Long Wave, we pride ourselves on our extensive and cutting-edge catalogue of system emulations, a testament to our history of creating and modifying a wide range of subsystems. Our expertise in tailoring existing emulations offers our clients unparalleled flexibility, ensuring solutions that are custom-fit to their needs. Moreover, we also offer the capability to re-host actual aircraft software, further expanding the range of options available to our customers. Choose Long Wave for a partnership that prioritizes your needs and delivers solutions that are as dynamic as your requirements. Let us help you soar to new heights.
